If you want to get a boost on your French and explore the rich French history, culture and gastronomy, then this program is for you
My two-week homestay experience in Alsace was unforgettable. From the moment I arrived, I was warmly welcomed by Thomas and his wife Ingrid, who made me feel right at home. Staying in the small village of Meyenheim allowed me to experience authentic daily life in France such as visiting the local bakery for fresh croissants.
What I appreciated most about the program was how much I was able to practice and improve my French. Every day was full of opportunities to converse, whether with locals at a family-run restaurant, with fellow visitors at cultural festivals, or with Thomas’ family while sharing stories over breakfast. My hosts were patient and encouraging, and even their son Diego took the time to show me nearby villages and talk about his own experiences living between cultures.
The excursions were equally enriching. Thomas tailored the program to my interests and he did not disappoint. I visited picturesque towns like Eguisheim and Riquewihr, explored historic sites such as the Natzweiler-Struthof concentration camp and the Hartmannswillerkopf war memorial, and even crossed into Germany and Switzerland during my stay. The mixture of history, culture, and local traditions gave me a much deeper appreciation for the region.
Of course, the food and wine were highlights too—I tasted my first tarte flambée, tried regional wines like Gewurztraminer, and even discovered cheeses and pastries I’ll never forget.Looking back, I feel grateful not only for the language progress I made, but also for the authentic moments I experienced.
