This program and experience exceeded my expectations

I spent 5 weeks in French Immersion with Thomas and his family. Lessons were curated for me and I enjoyed wonderful excursions as well. This is a unique opportunity to learn and study French language skills while staying in a separate apt space. Many meals are shared with the family so French dialogue is practiced. This program and experience exceeded my expectations and I would return again. I encourage anyone who wants to learn or improve their French language skills to consider a homestay with Thomas.

A Memorable Immersion in Alsace with Thomas

My immersion homestay with Thomas was nothing short of spectacular. From the onset, Thomas was extremely communicative and made sure I was well-prepared and comfortable for the journey ahead. He was extremely flexible and gracious when there was a last minute change to my arrival time and destination.

The apartment is top-notch! It’s well-equipped, perfectly located to explore by bike or on foot, and just a short walk from Thomas’ own home. Every corner of this region exudes beauty, and with each excursion, I was constantly in awe of the sights.

What made this experience truly special was not just the scenery or the delectable local cuisine, but the enriching lessons and conversations I shared with Thomas. His approach was highly personalized, making the learning experience feel tailored just for me. I especially appreciated the challenge of applying newly learned vocabulary and verb tenses in my daily journals which were written, of course, en francais and reviewed/corrected with Thomas during our lesson the next morning.

But it wasn’t just Thomas who made my stay memorable. His family and friends, whom I had the pleasure to meet, were all genuinely warm and welcoming, adding another layer to my enriching experience in Meyenheim.

In summary, my time with Thomas was a combination of immersive learning, awe-inspiring views, delicious food, and genuine connections. Thomas is not just a fantastic instructor but also a wonderful host. If you’re considering a French immersion experience, I can’t recommend Thomas enough. It’s an experience I will cherish forever, and I’m sure you would too!

The mix of instruction and shared activities made the experience highly enjoyable

From walking with Thomas to the boulangerie each morning to gourmet lunches with his family, the Français Immersion program allowed me to completely ‘immerse’ in french for my week stay in Meyenheim. Thomas nicely included my husband in breakfast, lunch and our two fabulous excursions to the Ecomusée d’Alsace and hiking to Hartmannswillerkopf, an important WW1 site. The apartment he provided was charming and had a nice deck that overlooked a small river. My individual lessons with Thomas were very helpful and the mix of instruction and shared activities made the experience highly enjoyable. And it improved my french too!

This experience was a boost to my speaking confidence

I had a truly marvelous week in May 2023 improving my French with Thomas.

Getting here was an easy train ride from Paris. The private apartment he and his family provide is comfortable and charming, in a beautiful riverside location.

Thomas is a diligent instructor, tailoring lessons to one’s individual needs. Each day was a combination of morning lessons and afternoon excursions into the beautiful, historical part of France where he and his family live, practicing the language as I learned some of the history and delicious food and wine traditions of Alsace. Getting acquainted with Thomas’ family during the week gave me additional opportunities to converse in French. His dad even told me he could see improvement in my conversation by the end of the week. Thomas put a lot of energy into making it a very positive learning experience.

I finished the week feeling more confident in my speaking ability as I continued traveling in France for another ten days before returning to the States. I still have a lot of work to do to refine my language ability yet this experience was a boost to my speaking confidence and got me back on track toward my language learning goals. The whole experience was enriching in so many ways! I plan to continue using Thomas’ high quality online learning materials.

Thank you, Thomas and family for a cherished experience!

I loved my week there so much!!!

I can’t say enough good things about my homestay with Thomas. I loved my week there so much!!! Thomas is a very kind, generous, and thoughtful host who did everything he could to ensure I would have an amazing week. I loved all of our excursions, especially to the beautiful Alsace villages nearby and to the mountains to walk through the trenches and caves used by WWI soldiers.

Thomas is such a fun person to spend the day with–we certainly laughed a lot and there was never a boring moment. He tailored his lessons to my personal needs and interests, and he even made a book for me which included pictures, vocabulary, and grammar that we discussed during my week there. The book is one of my most treasured souvenirs ever.

Unfortunately I was not able to spend time with Thomas’ family as they were getting over Covid, but I did meet his wife and she was delightful also. The gite where I stayed was beautiful, and the owner of the gite was also very kind and welcoming.

I know that anyone who does this immersion will have the time of their life in one of the most beautiful areas of the world, all while practicing and improving their French. I will be forever grateful to Thomas for taking such good care of me while I was there and for allowing me to experience a truly extraordinary week in the Alsace.

I highly recommend Thomas’ French immersion

I spent a week of French immersion with Thomas. I already had 4 semesters of French in college. By the end of the week I felt a remarkable improvement in my understanding and ability to speak French.

Thomas was an excellent teacher . He tailored the studies to my need. He is vary kind and concerned person. I went on memorable visits in Alsace and had excellent breakfasts and some wonderful Alsatian meals at his house cooked by his lovely wife. He made me feel at home.

I highly recommend Thomas’ French immersion.

J’ai beaucoup apprécié le homestay

Merci Thomas.
