MEET YOUR FRENCH TEACHER AND HOST
Bonjour and welcome to my home.
My name is Thomas, I’m the founder of Français Immersion. But you already know me if you’ve been watching my videos on my YouTube Channel… I’m married with Ingrid, but you also know her. She’s the founder of Talk en Français. We have two children: a boy and a girl.
We were all born in France. We are French Native Speakers, and speak fluently Spanish and English and learning German!
We are convinced that learning languages is important. Why? To travel, to be able to communicate with people, to make new friends all over the world, to work.
Over the years, we have been traveling in different places, such as Peru, United States, England, Spain…
I started teaching French 10 years ago and started working in private language schools.
Soon, I realized that students benefited best from combining French lessons with fun. So I founded Français Immersion and launched my own YouTube channel.
Since then, I received many messages from students who would love to experience a French immersion homestay. So I started offering immersion stays in my own home for years now!
I know that students benefit more from combining grammar with real life experiences, in a more relaxed environment.
I hope to welcome you soon for an immersion stay “chez moi”.
French Immersion Program, French Host Family Experience!
MY HOME IN ALSACE
My home is a spacious three-story house set in a calm and safe village in the east of France.
I love my house. Actually that property belonged to my grand-parents until they died. So many memories… I totally renovated the house to build two private apartments. I live with my family in one of them. The other apartment right next door was built especially for the guests. I had time to think over the details and make it as comfortable as I like it to be.
My house has 3 bedrooms, one open kitchen and dining room area, a living room, a separate toilet and one bathroom.
My kitchen is an important part of the house: it’s an open kitchen and my guests and students like to sit by the counter (and enjoy a glass of wine) as I cook. I like to have friends and family over – you’ll meet them too!
At the back of the house, there is a nice river, path and garden. It’s all very quiet and safe here. You can borrow my bike and enjoy the many walks in the countryside around us.
YOUR PRIVATE APARTMENT
It’s a fully new apartment.
Your room is large and comfortable with a suite bathroom.
There is a double bed, a nice comfortable armchair to read, and a little “bureau”.
Your private bathroom is fully equipped with a shower, a toilet, and a sink.
Your open kitchen and dining/living room are fully equipped with a TV, a large choice of DVDs in French.
There is Wifi throughout the apartment.
Learn French in Alsace, Near Germany and Switzerland
I live in a small village called “Meyenheim” in the region of “l’Alsace”, surrounded by the Rhine River (called “Le Rhin” in French), the Vosges Mountains and the vineyards, not to mention the convenient access to Colmar (20min), Mulhouse (20min), Strasbourg (55min) and to EuroAirport Basel-Mulhouse-Freiburg (30min).
Alsace is a historical region in northeastern France on the Rhine River plain. Bordering Germany and Switzerland, it has alternated between German and French control over the centuries and reflects a mix of those cultures.
Strasbourg, a beautiful city
Its capital, Strasbourg is one of the many fine cities of France; its historic center, with its magnificent gothic cathedral, is among the most visited in France, and the Petit France quarter, on the banks of the river Ill, is particularly worth a visit. Among the highlights of the city’s year is the annual Christmas Market, held around the cathedral, an event that attracts visitors from all over France and neighboring countries. Generally speaking, Strasbourg attracts a large number of international visitors, being the one of the two seats of the European parliament.
Alsace wine is famous worldwide
Alsace wine is famous worldwide, and wine production is one of the region’s main activities. The Alsace vineyards are located along the eastern slopes at the foot of the Vosges; the area is famed for its very pretty villages, with their brightly painted half-timbered houses. Some of these villages such as Eguisheim (20min) and Riquewihr (30min) are classed as “most beautiful villages in France”, and as such tend to draw vast crowds of tourists at weekends and in the tourist season. They are very pretty; but these are just two among a large number of other very attractive villages and small towns set among the vineyards. For a more authentic view, visitors should follow the Alsace Wine Route, and stop off at some of the less visited small towns and villages, such as Niedermorschwihr or Turckheim.
I feel privileged because the region is really interesting year-round:
• Its well marked cycling routes are especially enjoyable in the spring when the air is still brisk. In the many parks, the flowers in bloom offer a gorgeous view.
• There are many activities to enjoy in the summer: with the mountains so close, the weather usually is warm but not too hot. It’s also a great time to enjoy hikes.
• In the fall, the nature all around this area is just amazing – it’s the time of wine harvest and there are many wine related events.
• In the winter, Alsace is a region for hiking, snowshoeing, cross country or downhill skiing. The views of the mountains and trees covered in pure white snow are breathtaking.

TESTIMONIALS
Many students have enjoyed our program yet and improved their speaking and understanding abilities!
This program and experience exceeded my expectations
I spent 5 weeks in French Immersion with Thomas and his family. Lessons were curated for me and I enjoyed wonderful excursions as well. This is a unique opportunity to learn and study French language skills while staying in a separate apt space. Many meals are shared with the family so French dialogue is practiced. This program and experience exceeded my expectations and I would return again. I encourage anyone who wants to learn or improve their French language skills to consider a homestay with Thomas.

Gosha (Switzerland)
