It was a week of intense learning, but also a lot of fun
I spent a week of immersive study with Thomas and « quelle bonne expérience » ! It was a week of intense learning, but also a lot of fun. Thomas is as enthusiastic and energetic in person as he is in his videos.
Thomas began by listening to my goals and objectives for the week, and then tailored each session specifically to help me make progress. I really felt that he heard and understood my struggles in learning French, and prepared direct and creative exercises to help me improve.
We started each day with a trip to the local boulangerie to buy viennoiseries and baguettes for breakfast. Then there was a full morning of French studies, followed by a delicious lunch … usually at a typical Alsatian restaurant, although Thomas did cook a fantastic meal one day.
Perhaps the best part of the week were the afternoon excursions. One day we visited a nearby charming and picturesque Alsatian village, ending the day with a wine tasting of local wines. Another day was a visit to the art museum in Basel … and another was a lesson in history with a visit to a WWI memorial and a walk through actual trenches built during the war. During the excursions, we talked in French in a natural and spontaneous way … and I learned so much about the culture and history of Alsace. I can highly recommend Thomas’ Français Immersion program, although I really felt that one week was not enough time. The week went by too fast, and I know I had more to learn from Thomas as well as more interesting sites to visit in Alsace. So if you have the chance to spend several weeks with Thomas and his French immersion program, it would definitely be worth it !
